Is honey from Golding Farms Foods® 100% pure honey?
Yes, all Golding Farms Foods® honey is 100% pure honey with no additives! In fact, we conduct tests to ensure the purity of our honey. Brands available from Golding Farms Foods® are Mountain Ridge®, Golding Farms® and Naturally Healthy®.
Should I refrigerate Golding Farms® or Mountain Ridge® Honey?
No, honey is a natural product and does not need to be refrigerated. As a matter of fact, refrigeration may lead to quicker crystallization and makes your honey difficult to pour from the bottle.
Is honey good if it has crystallized?
Yes, crystallization is a natural process. To melt the crystals and liquifies your honey, loosen the lid on the honey and place your container in warm water (be careful not go get water inside the honey container) until the honey liquefies. Be aware the hot water could cause your plastic container to melt. We do not recommend microwaving honey as a way of melting the crystals.
What is the origin of Golding Farms®, Mountain Ridge®, and Naturally Healthy® honey?
All honey sold by Golding Farms Foods® is from reputable sources both domestic and imported. Unfortunately, there is not enough honey produced in the United States to meet the demand of its population. We do NOT buy, sell or market honey of Chinese origin.
Is honey from Golding Farms Foods® filtered?
Honey from Golding Farms Foods® is filtered enough to remove bee particles and comb in accordance with USDA grading standards. As a result, pollen may be removed. The majority of USA customers prefer clear honey.
How is your Mountain Ridge® Honey different from your Golding Farms® Honey?
It is a raw, dark 100% pure honey that has a stronger, more unique flavor, than light honey.
Is honey from Golding Farms Foods® pasteurized?
Honey is a natural antibiotic and naturally low in bacteria and does not need to be pasteurized.
Why does the same brand of honey occasionally look or taste different?
The type of flowers and trees that the bees pollenate directly affects the taste and look of honey. As an example, the same flower blooming in the same location may produce slightly different nectar from year-to-year depending upon temperature and rainfall and that in turn can affect the taste and look of the honey.
Why is it recommended that children less than 1 year old not eat honey or foods that have honey added to them?
Honey may contain botulism spores which can lead to botulism poisoning. Adult intestines contain enough acids to counteract the production of toxins the botulism bacteria produce but the intestines of a child under 1 year old do not.
Is it OK to eat honey while pregnant or nursing?
Is your honey local to the Piedmont, NC area?
No. If you require local honey, we recommend finding a beekeeper that is keeping bees in your immediate area from which to purchase. Note that your local farmers market may be selling honey that is not from your local area.
Yes, all honey from Golding Farms Foods® is certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union.
How is honey measured?
Golding Farms Foods® follows USA FDA guidelines about how to declare the contents of honey. Honey must be declared by net weight ounces, not fluid ounces. For example, 12 net weight ounces (mass measurement used to indicate how much product is in the container, not including the weight of the actual container) of honey will equal approximately 8 fluid ounces (volume measurement-measure of liquid volume). Read recipes carefully to see if the recipe is expressed in a volume measurement or a mass measurement.
